چکیده
Abstract In this qualitative study based on 95 interviews with Chinese subordinates and their German supervisors, we inductively develop a model which advances theoretical understanding by showing how inter-cultural trust development in hierarchical relationships is the result of six distinct elements: subordinate trustor’s cultural profile (cosmopolitans, hybrids, culturally bounds), psychological mechanisms operating within trustor (role expectations accommodation), contextual moderators (e.g., country context, time spent foreign culture, third-party influencers), together influence forms presumptive trust, relational trust) dynamics breakdown repair) relationship phases over (initial contact, continuation, disillusionment, separation, acculturation). Our findings challenge assumption that differences low levels initial highlight strong role subordinate’s can have trajectory relationships. highlights operates as variform universal, following combined universalistic-particularistic paradigm cross-cultural management, both generalizable etic dynamics, well specific manifestations.

A Social Exchange Model of Subordinate’s Trust In Supervisors
This study demonstrates how the subordinate’s defensiveness predicts perception of managerial behaviors, which in turn leads to trust in supervisors. From a social information processing perspective, defensiveness, the affective reaction to uncertainty and vulnerability, serves as the “frame” subordinates use to decode and evaluate managerial behaviors. Trust in supervisors is anchored in this ...
متن کاملGTrust: a group based trust model
Nowadays, the growth of virtual environments such as virtual organizations, social networks, and ubiquitous computing, has led to the adoption of trust concept. One of the methods of making trust in such environments is to use a long-term relationship with a trusted partner. The main problem of this kind of trust, which is based on personal experiences, is its limited domain. Moreover, both par...
متن کاملA confidence-aware interval-based trust model
It is a common and useful task in a web of trust to evaluate the trust value between two nodes using intermediate nodes. This technique is widely used when the source node has no experience of direct interaction with the target node, or the direct trust is not reliable enough by itself. If trust is used to support decision-making, it is important to have not only an accurate estimate of trust, ...
متن کاملDo Students Trust Their Open Learner Models?
Open learner models (OLM) enable users to access their learner model to view information about their understanding. Opening the learner model to the learner may increase their perceptions of how a system evaluates their knowledge and updates the model. This raises questions of trust relating to whether the learner believes the evaluations are correct, and whether they trust the system as a whol...
متن کاملDo You Trust to Get Trust? A Study of Trust Reciprocity Behaviors and Reciprocal Trust Prediction
Trust reciprocity, a special form of link reciprocity, exists in many networks of trust among users. In this paper, we seek to determine the extent to which reciprocity exists in a trust network and develop quantitative models for measuring reciprocity and reciprocity related behaviors. We identify several reciprocity behaviors and their respective measures. These behavior measures can be emplo...
